EMERGENCY SUPPLIES
We may be able to help if you need a prescription medicine in an emergency when it is impossible to get your doctor. We can only do this in genuine emergencies. And because it cannot be done under the NHS, we have to charge.
MEDICINE CONTAINERS
We put all tablets and capsules in “child resistant containers” unless you ask us not to. This does not mean that they are “child proof” – nothing is!! So KEEP ALL MEDICINES OUT OF CHILDREN’S SIGHT AND REACH.
To help elderly or confused people take their medicines correctly, we can recommend special containers marked with daily or weekly doses. Further, where such a patient is unable to visit the pharmacy, we may be able to arrange for a member of staff to call at home.
REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS
We can collect repeat prescriptions from your doctors surgery on your behalf. Please ask for details.
PRESCRIPTION DELIVERY
In cases of difficulty in coming to our pharmacy we are able to offer a prescription delivery service. Obviously we have to limit to the housebound.
CARE IN THE COMMUNITY
We are able to offer a full range of services to residential and nursing homes and sheltered accommodation units. These include collection and delivery of prescriptions, medicines supplied in a choice of monitored dosage systems, regular advisory visits and training of home staff. UNWANTED MEDICINES
Return all unwanted medicines to a pharmacy where they will be safely destroyed. Please DO NOT HOARD UNWANTED MEDICINES it can be fatal.
MEDICINE SALES
When we are open (except lunchtimes – usually 1 pm to 2.15 pm), there is always a pharmacist available to give advice on the treatment of minor illnesses. We have a semi-private area where you can speak to the pharmacist in confidence.
INCONTINENCE SUPPLIES
We can advise you in confidence about helpful items such as pads, pants, sheets, mattress covers, and anything else you need.
HOSIERY
We can supply most kinds of special NHS stockings. We also sell support tights.
TRUSSES
Many of our pharmacists have been trained to measure and fit trusses which can be done in your home.
OSTOMY SUPPLIES
We are able to order ostomy supplies to fulfil NHS prescriptions.
AIDS TO EASIER LIVING
We keep in stock, in selected pharmacies, a small range of aids for the physically handicapped but are able to obtain a large range of items to special order. These include wheelchairs, commodes, high seat chairs, anti-pressure pads, toilets, kitchen and eating aids and a host of devices for every day use. Please ask to see our illustrated catalogue.
SURGERY EQUIPMENT
We can order a full range of medical, surgical, and equipment sales for doctor’s surgeries at competitive rates. Please ask for details.
FIRST AID SUPPLIES
Our pharmacies stock comprehensive ranges of first aid dressings and creams for the home. We also supply first aid boxes conforming to the requirements of the Health and Safety (Fist Aid) Regulations 1990 for shops, offices, factories etc.
HOLIDAY NEEDS
Please ask for our list of items you may need for your holiday. Our pharmacist is always glad to give advice about avoiding sunburn, tummy upsets, malaria and other holiday risks and to recommend suitable remedies.
CHIROPODY
These days there is a much wider choice of foot care products, and we are always glad to advise you about any particular need or problem.
FERTILITY TESTING
We can advise you on buying and using thermometers and testing kits for home use. These show when a woman’s fertility is at its highest. Full information on how to use these kits is available from the pharmacist.
PREGNANCY TESTING
A small early morning urine sample is all that we need. We can usually test it while you wait or, if you prefer, you can buy a home test kit.
KEEP YOURSELF WELL
Come in and help yourself to health education leaflets. They are always on display. Do make a special point of looking out for new ones each month.
MEDICAL ADVICE
As well as the traditional role of supplier of medicines, pharmacy has entered a new era with the pharmacist now adopting a role of advisor on common ailments.
PHOTOGRAPHIC SERVICES
We recently acquired the latest photographic equipment capable of processing digital as well as traditional 35mm films. With this we are also able to produce in house a variety of photographic gifts including mugs, t-shirts and jigsaws. Most of our branches have got a Kiosk machine whereby customers can bring in their digital media, manipulate the images and order photographs. These orders are automatically sent to our lab in Sinfin where the photos are printed and returned to the branches for the customer to collect.
Passport Photographs
We are able to take photographs for passports, disabled badges, identity cards and driving licenses at our Borrowash, Oakwood and Sinfin pharmacies.
Developing and printing services
We offer a speedy, quality developing and printing service at competitive prices with a free replacement film (135 films only).
